BioA young officer assigned to the undercover unit run out of Jump Street Chapel, Doug Penhall is a tough-talking teddy bear who likes to think he's a ladies' man. He's a good cop who went undercover in high schools around the city, often taking on the role of a punk or trouble-maker. Occasionally a complete dork. My favourite of his personas is as one half of the MacQuaid brothers, bullies and criminals.
The series was in danger of cancellation after season two, so it ended with the characters being reassigned over the summer until the Jump Street program (hopefully) resumed in the fall. Penhall receives a transfer, has a moment of 'WTF Haurvatat?', kisses Dorothy goodbye, and then . . .
While 21 Jump Street is often touted as the show that launched Johnny Depp's career, it is the humble opinion of this mun that you came for the Depp and stayed for the DeLuise. The boy is drool-worthy. Like MacGyver, he makes the mullet hot.
